you’re blowing my mind

you’re blowing my mind

<p style=”text-align: left;”>The last few mornings I’ve woken up, checked my emails and been completely blown away by the amount of entries that have come in overnight. And even more blown away by where they have come from! Let me just real off a few names … Republic of Macedonia, Poland, Iran, India, Serbia, Cyprus, Egypt, Jamaica, Bolivia, Switzerland, China, Ukraine, Slovakia, Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, USA, UK and of course Australia. All thanks to a little thing we like to call the Internet. Blows my mind to think how far our little message of positivity has travelled, and how many people want to be involved.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Over the last week I’ve asked a few of our entrants why it would be good to have a positive message in their streets. Here are a few of their answers …
<p style=”text-align: left;”>My people are known for being cold and reserved. I think they should learn to smile more often and chase away the cold – Vivian, Curitiba, Brazil.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>There are some major issues that concern Cyprus in general, as well as Nicosia, Capital of the island. Last week was the 36th anniversary of Greek coup and the Turkish Invasion in Cyprus. The war in this small island 36 years ago, brought a lot of pain to the people, who either lost their houses or their families. And still the problem remains unsolved. The island is separated in two, and for 36 years now politician meet, talk, fight with out any result. – Maria, Nicosia, Cyprus.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>It makes a nice change to see some social commentary out on the streets, instead of someone trying to sell something – Jorge, Melbourne, Australia
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Egyptians struggle every day, we are sadly not a pampered community. And we really miss the concept of having visual art around us. A poster with a message could turn a bad, hot, crowded day, into a soothing one, I guess. I want to spread awareness for all causes, make people think and act through visual art, I want the richest man to see a positive poster and learn something from it, and I want the janitor to see a positive poster and take something else from it – Amr, Cairo, Egypt.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>So I’m sitting at home on a Friday night (I know so cool), reading these little snippets of peoples lives from all over the world. And it’s hitting home that there actually are a lot of people out there who really do want to make a positive difference to how we live our lives (no matter how small or big). A nice little thought for a Friday night don’t you think.
