A Trip Down Memory Lane

A Trip Down Memory Lane

As we start the process of choosing this years winner, i thought it was a good time to have a look back at last years. Say hello to Peter from Slovakia, the man behind PP’s first winning poster ‘Smile’.

Tell us about yourself Peter.

I’m a 25 year old graphic design student from Slovakia

What was the best thing about winning PP 2009?

Everything!! When I saw my poster on the streets of Melbourne and in the North pole and South pole, it made me so happy. And the Wacom tablet and a CS5 has been great for my future work.

What was the most unexpected thing about winning PP 2009?

I didn’t expect it at all! You never can tell who will win this sort of competition. And I think most crazy thing about it is that i designed this poster in three minutes. Sometimes it takes me half a year to design something, and I’m not nearly as happy with it as my Smile poster.

Has winning had an impact on your design career?

Honestly, not too much, but it’s great to be able to say and show that my design work has been all around the world. It’s cool for me when people recognise my design and are like “hey, I know that, you won right?”. It gives me credibility.

Why do you think it is important to have a positive message on your streets, and around the world?

This world can be messed up. I think a lot of the time more bad than good things happen. Daily we are attacked with negative news on TV, radio or whatever. Having a positive message broadcast on the streets can really make your day better, we don’t really see that much positive news.

If you want to get yourself one of the last copies of Peter’s poster, they are available through our online store. All proceeds from the sale of the poster will get this years winner on the street!
